Description
This Carolina Mustard BBQ Sauce recipe combines the tangy flavors of mustard and vinegar with a touch of sweetness and smokiness. Perfect for slathering on grilled meats or using as a dipping sauce.

Sauce:
- 1/2 cup mustard
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 4 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp ketchup
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp liquid smoke
- 6 dashes hot sauce of your choice
Slurry:
- 2 tsp cornstarch
- 2 tsp water (room temperature)
Instructions
- In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and water for slurry. Set aside.
- Using a rubber spatula, pour the mixture into a small saucepan.
- Add the slurry mix to the sauce and continue to cook for another 2 minutes.
- Refrigerate overnight before serving. To serve, warm it up in a small pot.
In a medium bowl, add all the sauce ingredients. Whisk until well combined.
Whisk often while simmering on low heat for 3 minutes (or until it starts to bubble). Do not overheat or boil.
Remove from heat and allow the sauce to cool. Once cool, pour into a jar or container with a sealed lid.
