These Christmas Kitchen Sink Cookies are a festive and fun treat packed with a variety of sweet and salty mix-ins including M&M’s, white chocolate chips, pretzels, potato chips, and colorful sprinkles. Soft and chewy with crisp edges, these cookies bring holiday cheer in every bite and are perfect for sharing during the Christmas season or for any celebratory occasion.

Ingredients

Scale

Cookie Dough

  • 3/4 cup salted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup granulated white sugar
  • 2 egg yolks, at room temperature
  • 2 tsp vanilla bean paste or extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, spooned and leveled
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Mix-Ins

  • 1/2 cup red and green M&M’s
  • 1/3 cup white chocolate chips
  • 1/3 cup pretzel pieces
  • 1/3 cup potato chip pieces
  • 2 tbsp red and green jimmies (sprinkles)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and line two baking sheets with parchment paper. Set aside to prepare for baking.
  2. Cream Butter and Sugars: Place the softened salted butter, light brown sugar, and granulated sugar into a large mixing bowl. Using an electric mixer, beat together on medium speed for two minutes until the mixture is light, fluffy, and well combined.
  3. Add Egg Yolks and Vanilla: Add the egg yolks and vanilla bean paste or extract to the creamed butter and sugars. Continue mixing on medium speed for another two minutes until the mixture turns pale in color and fluffy in texture.
  4. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture into the wet ingredients and mix until just combined, taking care not to overmix the dough.
  5. Fold in Mix-Ins: Gently fold in the M&M’s, white chocolate chips, pretzel pieces, potato chip pieces, and red and green jimmies using a spatula until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
  6. Scoop and Arrange Dough: Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, portion the dough into 20 balls and place them on the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about two inches apart to allow room for spreading.
  7. Optional Decoration: Add a few extra mix-ins on top of each dough ball to enhance their visual appeal and texture. This step is optional but recommended for a festive look.
  8. Bake Cookies: Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes. For chewier centers, bake for 10 minutes; for crisper edges, bake for 12 minutes.
  9. Shape Cookies: Upon removing the cookies from the oven, optionally use a large circular cookie cutter to swirl and push the cookies into a perfect round shape while still warm.
  10. Cool Cookies: Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely for an additional 10 minutes.
  11. Store: Store any leftover cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days to maintain freshness.

Notes

  • Measure flour properly by spooning into the measuring cup and leveling off with the back of a knife or, preferably, weighing it. Using 125 grams per cup is recommended for accuracy.
  • Using a circular cookie cutter immediately after baking helps create perfectly shaped cookies by pushing mix-ins together neatly.
  • Adding extra mix-ins on top of the dough balls before baking is optional but enhances the cookies’ festive appearance.
