Description

Celebrate the holiday season with this festive Christmas Guacamole Wreath Appetizer. Creamy ripe avocados mixed with zesty diced tomatoes, green chilies, lime juice, and fresh herbs create a flavorful dip that’s beautifully presented in a wreath shape. Garnished with cherry tomatoes and cilantro leaves, this appetizer is perfect for sharing with friends and family alongside crunchy tortilla chips or fresh vegetables.

Ingredients

Scale

Guacamole Mixture

  • 6 ripe avocados
  • 2 cans RO*TEL® Original Diced Tomatoes and Green Chilies (10 ounces each), drained well
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice
  • ½ cup red onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ teaspoon ground cumin
  • ½ cup fresh cilantro, finely chopped
  • Salt, to taste

Garnish and Serving

  • Cherry tomatoes, for garnish
  • Cilantro leaves, for garnish
  • Tortilla chips or vegetables, for serving

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Avocados: Pit and peel the avocados and place them in a large bowl. Coarsely mash them with a fork or potato masher until you reach your desired consistency.
  2. Mix Ingredients: Add the well-drained RO*TEL diced tomatoes and green chilies, lime juice, chopped red onion, minced garlic, ground cumin, and finely chopped cilantro to the mashed avocados. Mix everything together thoroughly to combine flavors.
  3. Season to Taste: Taste the guacamole mixture and add salt as needed, mixing well to distribute the seasoning.
  4. Form the Wreath: Place a small bowl in the center of a larger shallow serving bowl to act as a mold. Spoon the guacamole mixture evenly around the small bowl to create a wreath shape.
  5. Remove Mold: Carefully lift out the small bowl from the center, leaving a ring or wreath of guacamole in its place.
  6. Garnish and Serve: Decorate the guacamole wreath with cherry tomatoes and cilantro leaves to add festive color. Serve immediately with tortilla chips or fresh vegetables for dipping and enjoy this holiday appetizer.

Notes

  • For best flavor, use ripe avocados that yield slightly to gentle pressure.
  • Drain the canned diced tomatoes thoroughly to prevent the guacamole from becoming too watery.
  • This guacamole wreath can be prepared up to 1 hour in advance; cover tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate to prevent browning.
  • Substitute lime juice with lemon juice if preferred.
  • Customize the garnish with other festive ingredients like pomegranate seeds or sliced radishes for extra color.
  • Leftover guacamole can be stored in an airtight container with a layer of plastic wrap pressed onto the surface to reduce oxidation and refrigerated up to 2 days.
