Description

These festive Christmas Wreath Cookies are a delightful no-bake treat combining buttery marshmallows and crunchy cornflakes, shaped into wreaths and decorated with red candies for a perfect holiday snack. Easy to make and fun to decorate, they bring holiday cheer with every bite.

Ingredients

Scale

Base Ingredients

  • 1 stick of butter (1/2 cup)
  • 30 large marshmallows
  • 6 drops green gel food coloring or 1 and 1/4 teaspoons liquid green food coloring
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Mix-ins & Decoration

  • 5 cups cornflakes
  • 1 bottle of red hot candies or 1/2 cup red candy coated chocolates such as mini M&M’s
  • Cooking spray (for greasing)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the baking surface: Line a sheet pan with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat to prevent sticking and set aside.
  2. Melt marshmallows and butter: Place the marshmallows and butter in a large microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second increments, stirring between each, until fully melted and combined into a smooth mixture.
  3. Add flavor and color: Stir in the green food coloring and vanilla extract until the marshmallow mixture is evenly green and smooth.
  4. Incorporate the cereal: Add the cornflakes to the bowl and gently stir, being careful not to crush the flakes, until they are fully coated with the marshmallow mixture.
  5. Shape the wreaths: Lightly grease a 1/4 cup measuring cup with cooking spray. Pack the coated cereal mixture firmly into the measuring cup, then turn it out onto the prepared sheet pan. Using damp or greased fingers, press a hole in the center of each mound to form a wreath shape.
  6. Decorate: Press red hot candies or red candy-coated chocolates around the wreaths to resemble holiday berries.
  7. Cool and set: Allow the wreath cookies to cool completely at room temperature until firm and set before serving.

Notes

  • Using gel food coloring results in a more vibrant green than liquid coloring.
  • Damp or greased fingers prevent sticking when shaping wreath holes.
  • Store leftover cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
  • You can substitute cornflakes with rice cereal for a different texture.
  • These cookies are a fun activity to make with kids during the holiday season.
