Description

This Copycat Starbucks Turkey Pesto Sandwich is a delicious and savory panini-style sandwich featuring ciabatta rolls layered with basil pesto, provolone cheese, roasted red peppers, and deli turkey. Perfectly pan-grilled to melt the cheese and warm the ingredients, it’s an easy and flavorful meal inspired by the popular Starbucks favorite.

Ingredients

Scale

Sandwich Components

  • 2 ciabatta rolls, sliced in half
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • ¼ cup basil pesto
  • 2-4 slices provolone cheese
  • ¼ cup roasted red peppers
  • ¼ pound deli turkey meat

Instructions

  1. Preheat Panini Grill: Preheat your panini grill over medium heat. If you have a panini maker with a flat plate side, use that for even pressing and cooking.
  2. Prepare Bread: Brush the outside of both halves of the ciabatta rolls generously with olive oil to ensure a crispy and golden crust when grilled.
  3. Spread Pesto: Open each bread half and spread a generous amount of basil pesto on the inside surfaces of both halves to infuse rich herbaceous flavor throughout the sandwich.
  4. Assemble Sandwich: On the bottom half of each roll, layer 1-2 slices of provolone cheese, followed by ¼ of the deli turkey meat. Add roasted red peppers on top before placing the top half of the roll over to complete the sandwich.
  5. Grill Sandwich: Place the assembled sandwich onto the preheated panini grill, close the lid, and cook for about 5-7 minutes or until the cheese melts and the sandwich is heated through.
  6. Serve: Carefully remove the sandwich from the grill, slice it in half, and enjoy while warm.

Notes

  • For a cheesier sandwich experience, use 2 slices of cheese instead of one.
  • This sandwich is best enjoyed fresh; freezing is not recommended.
  • You can easily double the recipe to serve more people.
  • If you don’t enjoy roasted red peppers, substitute with fresh tomato slices.
  • If you don’t have a panini grill, you can prepare the sandwich on a stovetop using a heavy skillet or grill pan.
  • Use turkey slices that are not too thin to maintain texture and flavor.
  • Homemade basil pesto can be used for a fresher taste.
