Description

Frankenstein Cereal Treats are festive and fun no-bake rice crispy treats tinted and decorated with vibrant colored icings to create a playful Frankenstein monster design. Perfect for Halloween parties or themed celebrations, these treats combine classic cereal snacks with creative decorating techniques to delight both kids and adults.

Ingredients

Rice Cereal Crispy Treats

  • Prepared crispy cereal treat mixture (rice cereal, marshmallows, butter) – quantity as per recipe instructions
  • Leaf Green Icing Color, 1 oz.
  • Lemon Yellow Icing Color, 1 oz.
  • Black Icing Color, 1 oz.
  • Red-Red Icing Color, 1 oz.
  • Christmas Red Icing Color, 1 oz.
  • White Decorator Icing, 4.5 lb tub

Additional Supplies

  • Coupler and decorating bags
  • Piping tips #3 and #5

Instructions

  1. Prepare cereal treats: Follow the crispy cereal treat recipe to melt butter and marshmallows, then before adding the rice cereal, tint the melted mixture with a combination of green food color using Leaf Green and Lemon Yellow icing colors. Stir to distribute color evenly. Add the rice cereal and mix carefully to coat. Press the mixture into a prepared pan, flattening the surface well. Allow to cool completely before unmolding.
  2. Cut treats: Using a ruler, cut the set cereal treats into rectangles measuring approximately 2 inches by 3 inches for the Frankenstein shapes.
  3. Tint icings: Prepare icing colors for decorating by combining Leaf Green and Lemon Yellow to recreate the green shade shown, and combine Red-Red and Christmas Red to form the red shade. Tint 1 cup of white decorator icing black. Tint 1/8 cup red using the red combinations. Reserve the remaining decorator icing as white.
  4. Prepare decorating bags: Fit three decorating bags with couplers and piping tips: one with tip #5 for black icing, one with tip #5 for white icing, and one with tip #3 for red icing.
  5. Decorate treats: Use the black icing with tip #5 to pipe Frankenstein’s hair and facial features. Use white icing with tip #5 to pipe his mouth and the whites of the eyes. Use red icing with tip #3 to pipe heart-shaped eyes. Finally, pipe Frankenstein’s teeth using black icing with tip #3.

Notes

  • For best results, ensure the cereal treat mixture is completely cooled before cutting and decorating to prevent icing from melting.
  • Use gel-based food coloring for vibrant colors that do not affect the texture of the treats.
  • Practice piping on parchment paper beforehand to get comfortable with the different tip sizes.
  • Store finished treats in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days to maintain freshness.
