Description

Festive and fun Cornflake Wreaths are perfect for Christmas celebrations. These sweet, crunchy treats combine buttery marshmallow-coated cornflakes colored green to resemble holiday wreaths, decorated with red cinnamon candies to add a pop of color. Easy to make and no baking required, these wreaths are a delightful seasonal snack that kids and adults will enjoy.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 4 Tbsp. salted butter
  • 1 (10-oz.) package mini marshmallows
  • 7 drops green gel food coloring or 1 tsp. water-based green food coloring
  • 5 cups cornflakes
  • 45 small red cinnamon candies

Additional

  • Nonstick cooking spray, for your hands

Instructions

  1. Prepare baking sheets: Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper to prevent sticking and make it easier to set the wreaths.
  2. Melt butter and marshmallows: In a large saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Add the mini marshmallows and stir continuously until fully melted and smooth.
  3. Add food coloring and cornflakes: Mix in the green food coloring until the marshmallow mixture is evenly tinted. Remove from heat, then add the cornflakes and stir gently to coat them thoroughly with the green marshmallow mixture. Allow the mixture to cool slightly so it is easier to handle.
  4. Shape the wreaths: Spray your hands lightly with nonstick cooking spray to prevent sticking. Take 1/3 cup of the mixture and shape it into a log of even thickness. Connect the two ends of the log to form a circular wreath shape. Place the formed wreath onto a prepared baking sheet. Repeat this process with the remaining mixture to make about 15 wreaths.
  5. Decorate and set: Place 3 small red cinnamon candies evenly spaced around each wreath as decoration. Let the wreaths sit at room temperature for about 15 minutes to firm up before serving.

Notes

  • Spraying your hands with nonstick cooking spray is essential to prevent the sticky marshmallow mixture from adhering to your fingers while shaping the wreaths.
  • You can substitute mini marshmallows with regular-sized ones if desired; just chop them into smaller pieces for even melting.
  • The wreaths can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days to maintain freshness.
  • For a variation, try adding festive sprinkles or using different colored candies to decorate the wreaths.
