Description

A fun and creative guacamole recipe called Guacamoldy Witch, perfect for parties and Halloween gatherings. This creamy avocado dip is brightened with fresh lime juice, jalapeño, onion, and cilantro, and then decorated with a variety of colorful garnishes to resemble a whimsical witch’s face.

Ingredients

Scale

Guacamole

  • 1/2 small white onion, finely chopped
  • 1 small jalapeño, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup cilantro, finely chopped
  • Kosher salt and pepper, to taste (about 1/2 teaspoon each)
  • 2 large avocados
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons fresh lime juice

Decorations

  • Blue corn tortilla chips, for hat
  • Spiralized carrots, for hair
  • Cornichon, for nose
  • Radish slices, for eyes
  • Stuffed olive slices, for eyes
  • Black olive pieces, for eyebrows
  • Small red pepper pieces, for lips
  • Capers, for hairy warts
  • Chives, for hairy warts

Instructions

  1. Combine aromatics: In a medium bowl, add the finely chopped onion, jalapeño, cilantro, kosher salt, and pepper. Using the back of a fork, lightly smash and mix these ingredients together to release their flavors.
  2. Mash avocado: Add the peeled and pitted avocados along with the fresh lime juice to the bowl. Mash everything together until well combined but still slightly chunky to maintain texture.
  3. Assemble and decorate: Transfer the guacamole to a serving plate. Use blue corn tortilla chips placed at the top of the guacamole mound to create a hat shape. Arrange spiralized carrots around the sides to simulate hair. Use a cornichon slice for the nose. Place radish and stuffed olive slices for the eyes, and black olive pieces above the eyes as eyebrows. Add small pieces of red pepper to form lips. Finally, scatter capers and chives on the guacamole surface for added texture resembling hairy warts.

Notes

  • Use ripe avocados for best flavor and creamy texture.
  • Adjust the amount of jalapeño based on your spice preference.
  • Serve immediately to prevent the guacamole from browning, or cover tightly with plastic wrap pressed against the surface.
  • Feel free to customize the facial decorations with any other colorful vegetables or olives.
  • Great as a festive appetizer or party dip, especially for Halloween-themed events.
