Ingredients
Scale
Meatloaf
- 2 lbs Ground Beef
- 2 Large Eggs
- 2 Cups Panko Crumbs
- 1 packet Au Jus Mix
- 1/2 tsp Freshly Cracked Pepper
- 1/2 tsp Dry Mustard
- 1 tsp Onion Powder
- 1 Medium Yellow Onion
Topping
- 1 Cup Ketchup
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C) to get it ready for baking the feet loaf.
- Mix Eggs and Seasonings: In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, au jus packet, freshly cracked pepper, dry mustard, and onion powder until well combined.
- Add Meat and Panko: Incorporate the ground beef and panko crumbs into the egg mixture gently, being careful not to over-mix to keep the loaf tender.
- Shape the Feet: Divide the meat mixture in half. Place each half on a parchment-lined baking sheet and shape each into a foot shape, following the style pictured or as creatively desired.
- Prepare Onion Toenails and Stump: Cut a thick slice of the yellow onion. Use one onion ring to create ‘toenails’ for each toe by slicing them into shapes. Then slice two smaller onion rings and position them at the ankle-top part of each foot to look like stumps.
- Add Ketchup ‘Blood’: Spoon a small amount of ketchup onto each onion ring toenail and spread some slightly so it drips down, adding to the spooky effect.
- Bake the Loaf: Place the baking sheet in the oven and bake for 40-50 minutes, or until the meatloaf center is fully cooked and reaches an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C).
- Cool Before Serving: Remove from oven and allow the feet loaves to cool for about 5 minutes before serving.
- Serving Suggestion: Serve your Halloween Feet Loaf with ketchup, stewed tomatoes, or brown gravy as preferred for added flavor.
Notes
- Ensure not to overmix the meatloaf mixture to keep it tender and moist.
- Use a meat thermometer to check for doneness and avoid undercooking.
- Parchment paper helps prevent sticking and makes cleanup easier.
- The ketchup serves as a fun, spooky ‘blood’ effect for presentation.
- Feel free to customize seasoning based on taste preferences.
