For the Skillet Lasagna:
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 lb lean ground beef
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 3 cups marinara sauce
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 9 lasagna noodles (not the no-boil variety)
- 1 cup ricotta
- 1/4 cup parmesan, freshly grated
- 1 cup mozzarella, grated
- Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Prepare the Skillet: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef, season with salt and pepper, and cook until browned.
- Add Flavor: Stir in minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Make the Sauce: Add marinara sauce, water, and Italian seasoning. Break lasagna noodles into pieces and stir into the sauce.
- Simmer: Bring to a boil, then cover and simmer for about 15 minutes until noodles are tender, stirring occasionally.
- Prepare the Cheese Mixture: In a small bowl, combine ricotta and Parmesan, season with salt and pepper.
- Finish and Serve: Once noodles are cooked, dollop the cheese mixture over the top. Sprinkle with mozzarella cheese. Cover and let rest until the cheese melts. Alternatively, brown the cheese under the broiler.
