- 2/3 cup (158ml) heavy whipping cream
- 1/3 cup (81g) pumpkin puree (not pumpkin pie mix)
- 1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt (or up to 1 teaspoon for ‘salted’ caramel)
Instructions
- Prepare the Caramel: Place sugar in a heavy-bottomed saucepan. Heat over medium-low, stirring frequently until amber in color.
- Add Butter and Cream: Stir in butter until melted. Slowly add heavy cream, stirring constantly.
- Finish the Sauce: Remove from heat and stir in pumpkin, spice, vanilla, and salt until smooth.
- Store and Serve: Transfer to a jar, cool, then refrigerate. Reheat in increments when ready to use.
