Description

Smashburger Quesadillas combine the juicy goodness of a smashed beef burger with the crispy, cheesy delight of a quesadilla. This quick and easy recipe is perfect for a satisfying meal that brings together classic burger flavors wrapped in a toasted tortilla.

Ingredients

Units Scale

Beef Mixture

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • Garlic powder, to taste

Quesadilla Assembly

  • 4 large flour tortillas
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar or American cheese

Optional Toppings and Sauces

  • Pickles, sliced
  • Diced onions
  • Burger sauce for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat Skillet: Heat a skillet or griddle over medium-high heat to prepare for cooking the quesadillas.
  2. Shape and Season Beef: Press a small handful of ground beef directly onto one half of each tortilla, spreading it thinly. Season each with salt, pepper, and garlic powder to taste.
  3. Cook Beef on Tortilla: Place the beef-side down onto the hot skillet and cook for 2–3 minutes, until the beef is browned and cooked through.
  4. Add Cheese and Fold: Flip the tortilla over, sprinkle shredded cheddar or American cheese over the cooked beef, then fold the tortilla in half to encase the filling.
  5. Grill Until Crispy: Grill both sides of the folded quesadilla in the skillet until the cheese melts and the exterior is crispy and golden brown, about 2–3 minutes per side.
  6. Slice and Serve: Remove from heat, slice into wedges, and serve hot with optional pickles, diced onions, and burger sauce for dipping or topping.

Notes

  • Use a spatula to carefully press the beef onto the tortilla for an even layer.
  • You can swap cheddar or American cheese with your favorite melting cheese like Monterey Jack or mozzarella.
  • Serve immediately for the best crispy texture and melty cheese experience.
  • Customize toppings to mimic your favorite burger style, such as adding bacon or tomatoes.
