For the Pasta:
- 4 ounces uncooked penne
For the Sauce:
- 11 ounces hot Italian sausages (removed from casings)
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup chicken broth or white wine
- 1/2 tablespoon flour
- 1 (14 ounce) can diced tomatoes with juices
- 1/2 cup heavy/whipping cream
- Salt & pepper to taste
- Small handful fresh basil, sliced/torn
- Freshly grated parmesan cheese, to taste
Instructions
- Cook the Pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the pasta al dente according to package directions.
- Prepare the Sauce: Crumble the Italian sausages into a skillet and cook for 5-6 minutes until browned. Remove the sausage from the pan. In the same skillet, sauté garlic, add chicken broth, and flour. Cook until the mixture thickens. Add tomatoes, cream, and the cooked sausage. Simmer until the sauce thickens. Season with salt and pepper.
- Combine and Serve: Toss the cooked pasta with the sauce and basil leaves. Serve with freshly grated parmesan cheese.
