Description

Strawberry Kiss Cookies are soft, flavorful treats made from strawberry cake mix, cream cheese, and butter, topped with a classic chocolate Hershey’s Kiss. These cookies combine the sweetness of strawberry with a creamy texture and a rich chocolate center, perfect for any occasion or a delightful dessert.

Ingredients

Scale

Cookie Dough

  • 1 box (15.25 oz) strawberry cake mix
  • 8 tablespoons (1/2 cup) butter, melted and slightly cooled
  • 1 large egg
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened

Topping

  • 30 chocolate Hershey’s Kisses, unwrapped
  • Optional: powdered sugar or pink granulated sugar for rolling

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dough: In a large bowl, combine strawberry cake mix, melted butter, and egg, mixing until the batter is smooth.
  2. Add cream cheese: Stir in the softened cream cheese until the mixture is thick and fully blended.
  3. Chill the dough: Cover the dough and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to prevent spreading during baking and to thicken the dough.
  4. Preheat oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  5. Scoop dough balls: Using a tablespoon measure, scoop dough into balls for uniform cookies.
  6. Coat dough (optional): Roll each dough ball in powdered sugar or pink granulated sugar if desired, or place them plain onto the lined baking sheets.
  7. Bake cookies: Bake for 8 to 10 minutes until the edges are set but the centers are still soft for a tender texture.
  8. Add chocolate kisses: After removing the cookies from the oven, let them rest for 1 to 2 minutes, then gently press a chocolate Hershey’s Kiss into the center of each cookie.
  9. Cool completely: Transfer the cookies to a wire rack and allow them to cool fully before serving.

Notes

  • Chilling the dough prevents the cookies from spreading too much and keeps them thick and soft.
  • Light cracking on the tops of the cookies is normal when pressing in the chocolate kiss.
  • Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days to maintain freshness.
