Ingredients
Scale
For the Bruschetta Base
- 8 slices sourdough bread, each 1/2-inch thick
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
For the Topping
- 4 oz. cream cheese, at room temperature
- 1/3 cup Nutella hazelnut spread
- 2 cups diced fresh strawberries
- 1/4 cup chopped walnuts, toasted
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
- Prepare and Toast the Bread: Brush one side of each sourdough slice evenly with the melted butter. Arrange the slices on the prepared baking sheet with the buttered side facing up. Toast in the oven for about 5 minutes until the bread is golden brown and crispy.
- Cool the Toasts: Remove the bread from the oven and allow the slices to cool completely. This prevents the toppings from melting and keeps the bread crisp.
- Toast the Walnuts: Place the chopped walnuts in a small sauté pan over low heat on the stovetop. Stir regularly and cook for around 3 minutes until fragrant and lightly toasted. Set aside to cool.
- Make the Nutella Cream Cheese Spread: In a stand mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, beat the cream cheese and Nutella together until smooth and fully combined. Alternatively, mix by hand using a bowl and hand mixer.
- Assemble the Bruschetta: Spread a generous layer of the Nutella cream cheese mixture onto each cooled toast slice. Top each with diced strawberries evenly distributed.
- Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle the toasted walnuts over the strawberry-topped toasts. Serve immediately to enjoy the perfect combination of crunchy, creamy, and fresh flavors.
Notes
- For an added flavor depth, you can lightly drizzle honey over the strawberries before garnishing with walnuts.
- Use fresh, ripe strawberries for the best taste.
- Allow the toasted bread to cool completely before spreading the Nutella mixture to keep it from melting and sliding off.
- Store leftover Nutella cream cheese spread in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Walnuts can be toasted in the oven as well: spread evenly on a baking sheet and toast at 350°F for about 5-7 minutes, stirring halfway through.
